Complex Angioplasty
Complex angioplasty is an advanced procedure designed to treat challenging coronary artery blockages. It’s often required for cases involving Chronic Total Occlusions (CTOs), heavy calcification, long blockages, or bifurcation lesions—particularly in patients with multi-vessel disease or a history of bypass surgery. The goal is to restore blood flow to the heart, improving quality of life and reducing the risk of heart attack.
What Makes It "Complex" -
CHRONIC TOTAL OCCLUSION (CTO):
1) Complete, long-standing blockages those are very difficult to open.
2) Heavy Calcification: Arteries that have hardened due to calcium buildup.
3) Bifurcation Lesions: Blockages where one artery splits into two.
4) Long Blockages: Blockages that span a significant length of the artery.
5) Previous Bypass Surgery: Patients with a history of coronary artery bypass may need more advanced techniques.
